Preliminary Task evaluation

Preliminary Task Evaluation

The 180 degree rule  is used when an imaginary line on the floor is between two actors who are having a conversation and the camera person is not allowed to cross this line when filming an over the shoulder shot. If this line is crossed then the scenes would not make sense to the audience watching.

A match on action is a series of shots with the first shot being either a medium or long shot and the second shot being a close up. For example, in my movie there was a long shot of the main actor on his own then the actress came into shot and handed the phone to him. A close up of the passing of the phone was shown and then back to a long shot of the actress walking away and the actor using the phone.

An eye line match is when two actors are in different locations but are facing each other as if they were in the same room talking to each other face to face. So their eyes are looking at each other but in different locations. In my movie, I did an eye line match when the villain actor picks up the phone and talks to the main actor ,via the phone, but is facing the right. The main actor then speaks but is facing the left. This shot could have been improved upon by having the actors face more to the left and right so that they look as if they are genuinely talking to each other face to face.

The filming process of my movie was fairly simple. The types of shots I used included close ups, medium shots, long shots and an establishing shot which showed the college where I filmed my movie. The location we used was very suitable as I was able to get lots of filming locations within the grounds of the college itself. One problem I faced was the amount of background noise in some of the shots but this was easily solved by deleting the audio to the shot. I used a tripod so that all the shots were stable therefore this gives a professional look to my movie. The tripod was also helpful in doing tilts and pans which were both used in my movie. A tilt was used when the villain actor picked up the phone and brought it to his ear and a pan was used when the main actor was running towards the building.

I edited my movie in Adobe Premiere Pro which was very helpful as it offers a large range of editing tools. I learnt how to include a green screen explosion which features at the end of my movie. I used a cutting tool to shorten shots down so that they were suitable to use in my movie. I also added an audio to the background of my movie to give it more tension and to show it is an action film.
